Many people don’t realize that genital warts act very much like any other kind of warts. The main difference is the fact that the virus can lie dormant for several months or even years before manifesting itself. Unfortunately, there is not any treatment that can prevent or cure these warts. The human papilloma virus or HPV causes all warts, among other things, and is very contagious. Some people have found relief from symptoms by trying various treatments, but again, the virus generally lies dormant and warts will erupt at any time. Protecting yourself against the risk of genital warts is obviously the best route. If contracted, then there are products that will help keep the symptoms under control.
